The qualifications and conditions of election, the method of election, the privileges and obligations of Fellows, Honorary Fellows and Members shall be prescribed in accordance to the By-laws of the National Academy. The method of selection is through application to the academy or proposal by members via the Specialist Committees.
The membership of the Academy consists of three categories:
Fellowships of The National Academy may be conferred by the Governing Council of the National Academy on persons elected from Academy members who have made outstanding contributions in their fields and have already distinguished themselves.
Fellowship of The Kenya National Academy of Science (FKNAS) shall be a mark of scientific distinction and integrity.
There are 15 founding Fellows (6 have since passed) and 19 Fellows. View Fellows
Honorary Fellowships of The National Academy may be conferred by the Governing Council of the National Academy at its discretion, on persons who have made contribution in the furtherance of the Science and Technology.
Membership of The National Academy is open to the citizens of the Republic of Kenya of certain academic standing. View Members
